my secrets to five more minutes

of sleep that is.

i am not nor never have been one of those kinds of people that jump out of bed in the morning with lots of energy and spunk. i'm more of a what day is it?, blurry-eyed, has it been 7 hours already? kinds of people. lets just say it takes me a while to get going. over the years i have developed and refined my tactics for getting just a few more minutes of shut-eye. and i don't mean to brag, but i'm pretty darn good at it. you should take notes.

1. train your children to not wake you unless there is an emergency- aka vomit, blood or both. this involves teaching them to make their own breakfast. (cold pizza or cereal maybe).
2. when baby awakens have older child quietly bring baby to your bed. give baby cell phone to play with. this is genius (see step 4), but be sure that keypad on your phone is locked so that you don't call anyone at 6:55 am. my apologies, miss leslie.
3. strategically place baby on hubby's side of the bed. after all, dad loves to wake up to his cooing and cuddly baby. so really, you are doing him a favor. he will thank you.
4. when phone alarm goes off baby will push buttons and silence alarm. didn't i tell you? brilliant!
5. when alarm goes off a second time it's time to get up. either that or when the cell phone hits you in the head.

and there you have it- my secrets to 5 more minutes of blissful rest. i hope it works as well for you as it has for me.

disclaimer: if baby poops above steps do not work, and your husband will not thank you.
