Lola lost her first tooth. The tooth has been loose for a long time, hanging on by a thread. You get the picture. We were eating dinner one night, and it just fell out on its own. Lola was so excited and said, "I'm so proud." The Tooth Fairy left a whole dollar. Kyle was a little surprised at this generous amount, stating that when he was a kid he only got a quarter. "Inflation," I told him.
Then yesterday we had this discussion...
Lola - "What does the Tooth Fairy do with all of the teeth she collects?"
Mom-"Maybe she sells them on EBay to earn the money she gives to all the kids."
Dad-"Maybe she grinds them up and uses them as fairy dust."
Mom-"That's creepy."
Lola-"Maybe she makes necklaces out of them."
Dad-(Laughing) "That's creepier."
Mom-"Making teeth necklaces is creepier than sprinkling tooth dust on people?"
Dad-"She doesn't sprinkle it on people."
Mom-"What does she do with the dust then?"
Isabelle-"I think Lola wins. She makes necklaces out of them."
Maybe Lola and Isabelle are right, but I still think there is some validity to my EBay theory. How else would she be able to fund her tooth-taking, money-giving occupation? Plus, have you ever seen anyone wearing a tooth necklace?

That's so exciting!!! I think I would pay a dollar as well when that day comes. Good Job Tooth Fairy...
Maybe she wears the necklaces, you ever think of that?
And I'm going to have to say I lost teeth well after Kyle and the tooth fairy didn't have any inflation that helped me out. A quarter it was!
We know families who give out 5 bucks! Congratulations Ms. Lola! Very Exciting!!
I totally agree - it has to be the eBay thing.
Apparently in some part of Guatamala, it's a custom to make your child's first couple teeth that fall out into jewelry. I found this out because one of my dear little Guatemalan catering employees came up to me one day, showing off her jewelry. She made two of her daughter's teeth into dangly earrings. I tried to hide the fact that I was totally grossed out, because she was SO proud of her earrings. But...EW. I like your ebay idea much better.
